OK this is reaching but I watched a documentary lastnight on Ben Franklin.
One item he did was match weather patterns using newspapers from the colonies and writing letters to friends and having them report on a specific day.
He calculated pressure pushes weather by comparing the old reports.

Anyways, one year he linked a very cool summer and exceptionally cold winter to surrounding areas, plus across europe and the UK.
It was linked with 2 volcanic eruptions in ~1783, which caused cold summers in the colonies and europe.

guess where?

iceland in 1783-1784!

its a reach.

But if the 2nd one goes off, like it has every 100 years or so..
Dual eruptions..

watch for COLD summer 2010 and miserable winter 2010-2011......
